Biting out of the apple, Adam received the most precious
gift anybody could ever wish for on any Holyday: the possibility of
understanding the things he saw and of valuing the things and creatures that
surrounded him, depending on his physical and spiritual needs. The banishment
of the two sinners from Paradise is a theme present in the arts, always in a
way more than simplistic: Adam & Eve with their heads bowed, conscious of
the gravity of their act, are walking away, resigned by the Light that gave them Life at one point!... From that
moment on, our lives began to take shape, evolving between the two essential
parts – Good and Evil – and life gained salt and pepper. Can you imagine how
dull life must have been in those days in which Adam, a gorgeous man and no
doubt without any competition, was passing by indifferently and without even
the slightest glance towards Eve, an attractive woman dressed only in her
virtue, that didn’t impress too much in those first years when Descartes or
Kant haven’t even gotten the chance to write a few words about Ethics!... The
Flee from Paradise meant the beginning of Knowledge, and the knowledge gained
is both about Good and about Evil. The demiurge must’ve been satisfied about
Eve’s choice because the vegetable mode of the men He had created – when they
romped innocently through the Garden of Eden – couldn’t make him happy. There’s
no doubt about the fact that, from the very first Program, Knowledge and
Curiosity were factors because God couldn’t not foresee and not wish the
evolution of his most dear creature. Still, He probably hesitated to give Man
the gift of Knowledge from the beginning, knowing that the sense that is about
Ration, but more about Feeling, that sense that recognizes value isn’t yet that
shipshape. And He was right to hesitate, for the values of Man are always
changing, being based on historical conjunctions, on the stars’ alignment or
simply on a mundane moodiness… Until the stars don’t align in another
conjunction, I propose we delight ourselves with some wonderful Pin Ups found
in forgotten and dusty archives, Pin Ups which are still so greatly sensual!...
